Advisory services and funding for small and medium-sized Canadian businesses developing innovative technologies.
IRAP is the Industrial Research Assistance Program, and the National Research Council of Canada delivers it. IRAP provides advisory services and funding to small and medium-sized Canadian businesses developing innovative technologies. Companies commonly hold an IRAP relationship alongside an SR&ED claim.
An IRAP relationship starts with an industrial technology advisor, who arranges funding against a specific project. That makes it a different question from a tax incentive a company claims on its own return.
Eligibility and funding decisions rest with the National Research Council of Canada under its own criteria. GrantMark shows whether a company appears to fit the program's profile, as a starting point for that conversation.
The National Research Council of Canada administers NRC IRAP and publishes the current criteria, amounts and deadlines. That page is the authority on all three.
The GrantMark eligibility check asks thirteen questions about a company and screens the answers against a maintained catalog of Canadian federal and provincial funding program rules, NRC IRAP among them. Nothing is generated, so the same answers always produce the same result, and every program that comes back traces to the rule that let it through.
GrantMark is not a government agency and does not decide eligibility. A GrantMark assessment shows which programs a company appears to qualify for. It is where an application starts, and nothing more.
Thirteen questions, about two minutes. The check is free.
